LOBOS CLINCH PLAYOFF BERTH WITH 63-6 WIN OVER TIGERS
LONGVIEW - The ticket is punched.

For the 14th-straight season, Longview is playoff bound and the Lobos sealed their postseason in dominating fashion, rolling up Mount Pleasant 63-6 on Friday night at Lobo Stadium.

The win pushes Longview to 6-2 on the year and 5-0 in District 15-5A action. Mount Pleasant falls to 0-8 on the year and 0-5 in district action.

Tylan Miller amassed for 156 total yards, rushing for 121 and two touchdowns while hauling in three catches for 35 yards. It was the junior’s fifth 100-yard game this season as the Lobos ran for 261 yards.

Dezmond Chumley threw for 124 yards and two first-quarter scores – the first coming just 1:06 into the contest, marking the eighth game this season that the Lobos have scored on their opening possession.

Defensively, it was a shutdown effort for Longview, holding Mount Pleasant to three rushing yards on 31 attempts.

The Lobo secondary hauled in three interceptions, giving them 12 in district action and 14 on the year. Shaun Lloyd and Jakoryian Walker each housed their picks from 50 yards away, giving the Mean Green defense their fifth-straight game with points.

Ameron Dean returned a punt for a 55-yard score as Longview took a 49-6 lead into halftime.

While the scoreboard indicated the rout, it was sloppy at times for the Lobos, who had three fumbles – none lost – and were flagged a season-high 10 times.

Chumley found Jon Sorey on the Lobos’ fourth play of the night for a 54-yard touchdown strike with 10:54 left in the first quarter.

Khalil Williams got the Lobo defense going with a six-yard tackle for loss and Walker broke up a pass on Mount Pleasant’s first possession for the first of six three-and-outs for the Tigers.

The teams exchanged three-and-outs before Keanan Brown hauled in an interception for the Tigers.

Stacy Nelson broke through the line, knocked down a blocker and recorded a nine-yard sack, setting up the Tigers’ third punt of the night.

Walker returned the kick 40 yards to the Tiger 20 yard line and Chumley hit Antonio Carter on fade route to the corner for a seven-yard score, giving Longview a 14-0 lead with 5:23 left in the first quarter.

Walker picked his third pass at midfield and returned it to push the Lobo lead to 21-0 after the first quarter.

Miller broke a tackle and stayed on his feet, emerging from the pile for a 52-yard score early in the second quarter.

Mount Pleasant got on the board in one play – a 75-yard strike over the middle from Joseph Griffin to Jaquille Rodgers. The Tigers attempted 21 passes on the night.

Another three-and-out from Mount Pleasant led to a 55-yard punt return fromDean for the Lobos’ second score in just over a minute off the clock for a 49-6 Lobo lead at halftime.

Sophomore D’Crayvan Polk had a 23-yard run that set up fellow sophomore Traveion Webster’s one-yard punch-in in the third quarter. Polk later capped the scoring with a three-yard blast for the 63-6 final. The duo combined for 63 yards in the second half. Junior Kodeh Loyd had an interception and Davadius Thomas recovered a fumble for the Lobos.
